The publication
Research beyond fixed boundaries
Beyond Borders is a forthcoming edited collection led by Jacqueline Taylor. It challenges conventional boundaries in art(s) research and asks how research might be articulated through forms that do more than describe practice.
The collection treats borders, borderlands and states of in-betweenness as productive spaces. Its contributors examine how artistic research can provoke established academic structures, resist fixed disciplinary categories and open alternative ways of producing and encountering knowledge.

Praxis point
A productive interface
The chapter proposes the praxis point of interface as a space where theoretical reflection, practical engagement and tacit knowledge meet. It is not a stable boundary between disciplines. It is an active site of negotiation where methods, materials and ideas can collide and be reconfigured.
This position leads to the idea of the porous university: an institution capable of recognising knowledge that is visual, material, embodied, iterative and unfinished, without requiring practice to become subordinate to explanatory text.

The form performs the argument
The contribution does not simply describe transdisciplinary research. Its graphic structure enacts it. Text, image, typography and spatial composition operate together so that reading becomes active, recursive and non-linear.
The designed visual edition preserves the larger graphic and conceptual field. It tests how academic publishing might accommodate research that cannot be fully expressed through linear prose alone.
